Minnesota-born, Southern Oregon-based songwriter Ian George leads The Knee Pockets, a high-energy ensemble celebrated for its joyful, theatrical approach to contemporary folk-rock. Combining expressive songwriting with playful arrangements and fearless improvisation, the band has earned a reputation as one of the Northwest’s most entertaining live acts.
George’s music draws inspiration from the changing landscapes of his Midwestern upbringing while embracing influences that stretch across indie folk, Americana, and experimental rock. His songs are heartfelt, adventurous, and filled with an infectious optimism that makes every performance feel like a shared celebration.
His career has taken him throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, including appearances at the Cambridge Folk Festival in England. His acclaimed releases—including Kingdom of My Youth, Post-Corona, and A FAIR—have received national recognition from outlets including PopMatters, WXPN, and the NACC Folk Charts.
Now preparing the release of his forthcoming album Milk of the Moonlit Sun, Ian George continues to build a devoted audience through performances that invite listeners to dance, laugh, reflect, and fully embrace the moment.
